On March 11th 2011, a magnitude 9.0 earthquake struck off of the North East coast of Japan. As shown in the following image, the resultant tsunami moved inland, destroying everything in its path and creating a crisis at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant. ![]()
There are currently 114 countries and 24 international agencies offering assistance. Already teams from 14 regions have arrived to help.
